- SYMPTOMS may include upper abdominal pain, an itching rash at the site of
- penetration (usually the sole of the foot), iron deficiency anemia, darkened
- stool with blood pigments and retarded growth.
- CAUSES may be from walking in fecally contaminated soil without shoes.
- TREATMENT. Anti-hookworm medication and iron therapy.
